Your guide to going back to education after results day

Many Year 11s will be receiving their results tomorrow and finally seeing the results of all their hard work. But the next steps after results day may be daunting.

After months of revision, exams and waiting, it can feel strange to be preparing for the next stages of your education. Whether you are starting sixth form, college, or still processing your results, remember:

You do not need to have everything figured out yet.

Our top tips to make your transition easier are:

  1. Give yourself time to process. You might be happy with your results, or disappointed by some, or simply relieved they are over. All feelings about your grades are normal, but they do not define you or your future. If your results aren’t what you expected, speak to your school or college about your options.

  2. Get organised before returning to education. A new school year can be stressful, so keeping organised before the new term starts can help put you at ease. Check your school’s information about enrolment requirements, equipment and other necessary information.

  3. Don’t panic if you change your mind. If the subjects or courses you chose no longer align with you, do not worry. You can always change course or subject by contacting your school and asking about the grades you may need for these subjects.

So, no matter what happens on results day, remember to be proud of your hard work no matter what and carefully choose your next steps.
