Bedford School’s Movember campaign has returned with more energy, creativity and community spirit than ever before. This year’s standout moment is From Parklife to Tachelife, a brilliantly made parody of Blur’s classic song, produced and performed by the school’s Upper Sixth Mobros.

The film is fast becoming a tradition at Bedford School and is a highlight of their annual Movember efforts. While full of humour, it also carries a serious message about men’s health. Upper Sixth Former Marcus, who led the creative direction, explained, “We chose Blur’s Parklife because it let us bring a light hearted and down to earth feel to the film. A huge amount of work has gone into it from everyone involved. We want to shine a light on the incredible work Movember does for men’s mental health and cancer, and to inspire even more donations.”
Their work is already paying off. The campaign has passed last year’s total and has raised an impressive £24,500 so far.

But for the boys, Movember is about far more than fundraising. The initiative encourages open conversations about men’s mental health, suicide prevention and physical health, including testicular and prostate cancer. MoBros play a key role in raising awareness right across Bedford School, the Prep School and Bedford Girls’ School.
This year’s activities have been exceptional in both scale and spirit. Bedford Prep School teacher Paul Dennis completed an extraordinary challenge, running 5k every hour for 24 hours. Staff joined him through the night and the final stretch was met with cheers from supporters who gathered to celebrate his achievement.

The campaign calendar has been packed with events that have brought the whole community together. The first ever Movember Ball, a Silent Auction, Open Mic Night, Mo Netball with Bedford Girls’ School, House Tug of War, Mo Dodgeball, Movember Football, the ever popular Curry and Quiz Night and countless cake sales have all helped raise funds and awareness.
Mrs Victoria Marriott, Master in Charge of Charities, said, “I am so proud of what all the Mobros of 25 have achieved. Our aim is always to raise awareness and funds for this amazing charity and it is wonderful to see such positive engagement with everything we are doing.”
With creativity, commitment and plenty of good humour, Bedford School’s Mobros have once again shown what can be achieved when a community comes together for a cause that matters.
