This Saturday, 14 June, The Craufurd Arms in Wolverton will host a heartfelt and musically rich evening, the second annual Blues For Brain Tumours charity gig. This year's event promises an incredible night of live music in support of a deeply personal cause, raising money for The Brain Tumour Charity in memory of a beloved father and to help other families affected by this devastating illness.
A Night of Diverse Live Music
Opening the evening at 7.40pm are The Chess Pieces, a young Milton Keynes-based band with a unique blend of neo-soul, indie and blues. Their sound will appeal to fans of John Mayer, Bill Withers, Dave Matthews Band and Daniel Caesar, with smooth grooves and soulful energy.
Next on stage are Sleepwalk, an alternative blues rock band fronted by event co-founder Joshua Cox. Drawing influence from artists such as Philip Sayce, Jack White, The Black Keys and Jimi Hendrix, they deliver a raw, powerful set that channels the true spirit of modern blues and rock.

Headlining the night are Ramblin Preachers, well known across the Milton Keynes music scene for their mix of Americana, southern rock and blues. This will be their farewell performance, making the night especially poignant. The band were nominated for the UK Blues Federation’s Emerging Act of the Year and are a must-see for fans of Blackberry Smoke, Black Stone Cherry, Chris Stapleton and Robert Jon and The Wreck.

The Story Behind the Event
Blues For Brain Tumours was founded in 2024 by local musician Joshua Cox and his close friend Louis Humphreys, following a deeply personal loss. In August 2023, Joshua’s father was diagnosed with a terminal Grade 4 glioblastoma, an extremely aggressive form of brain tumour, after suffering a sudden seizure at work.
Faced with a life-or-death decision, Joshua’s father chose to undergo high-risk surgery in London, which successfully removed part of the tumour and gave him more time. He was even able to attend the first Blues For Brain Tumours event in June 2024, held at The Charles Bradlaugh in Northampton, where £1,000 was raised for The Brain Tumour Charity.
Sadly, despite months of chemotherapy and radiotherapy, the tumour returned. Joshua’s father’s health declined, and he passed away in October 2024.
Determined to turn grief into action, Joshua and Louis decided to expand the event, aiming to raise even more money and awareness for brain tumour research. Their goal is to help ensure fewer families face the same heart-breaking experience.

Why It Matters
Brain tumours remain one of the most underfunded areas of cancer research, despite being the biggest cancer killer of children and adults under 40 in the UK. Events like Blues For Brain Tumours play an essential role in raising awareness, funding research and offering hope to those affected.
Come for the music, stay for the cause, and help make a real difference.
