Eurovision is back, and this year the contest is heading to Basel, Switzerland. After Swiss artist Nemo stormed to victory last year in Sweden with their song The Code, Switzerland is now hosting the 2025 competition at the Jakobshalle arena.
The Grand Final takes place on Saturday 17 May, but the festivities begin earlier in the week with two semi-finals on Tuesday 13 May and Thursday 15 May. As always, the UK is automatically through to the final, alongside France, Germany, Italy, and Spain, also known as the ‘Big Five’, due to their significant financial contributions to the contest.
Who is representing the United Kingdom?
Flying the flag for the UK this year is Remember Monday, a country-pop girl group made up of Lauren Byrne, Holly-Anne Hull, and Charlotte Steele. You might remember them from The Voice UK in 2019, where they impressed all four coaches with a soulful rendition of Seal’s Kiss from a Rose, ultimately joining Jennifer Hudson’s team. Though they were knocked out during the knockout stage, their original songwriting and tight harmonies left a lasting impression.
Since then, the group has been building their sound, releasing music that blends their strong vocals with witty, heartfelt lyrics. Their Eurovision entry, What the Hell Just Happened?, is a fun, energetic pop anthem that promises to lighten the stage.
What is the Song About?
The lyrics paint a picture of a wild night out, with mentions of lost shoes, surprise tattoos, and late-night confessions. But beneath the chaos, the track is really about living in the moment and finding freedom in embracing life’s messiness.
Where You Can Watch
If you’re in the UK, you can catch all the Eurovision 2025 action live on BBC One and stream it on BBC iPlayer. The semi-finals air on Tuesday 13 May and Thursday 15 May at 8pm, with the Grand Final on Saturday 17 May at 8pm. For radio listeners, BBC Radio 2 will also provide live coverage. Additionally, the official Eurovision Song Contest YouTube channel will stream the shows live, subject to regional availability.
Want to catch them live? Remember Monday will also be performing at Capital’s Summertime Ball at Wembley Stadium on 15th June. So even after Eurovision, there’s more to look forward to.
Whether they win or not, they will for sure bring a fresh burst of energy to this year’s contest!
