Updated: Mar 16

2024, the year of ‘Brat Summer’, Sabrina Carpenter’s worldwide sold-out concerts, and the breakthrough of the likes of artists, Teddy Swims and Chappell Roan.

However, as we make our way into this new year, here is some of the music and upcoming artists that should be on your radar:

Lola Young

One of the UK’s new emerging artists’, Lola Young, has recently had her second studio album blow up within the charts, with her sixth single ’Messy’, currently holding 3rd in the Official Big Top 40. The 21-year-old female singer first had her rise to fame back in 2021, when she was nominated for ’Rising Star’ at the Brit Awards. However, in recent months, Young has taken to new heights, with her making an appearance on the new Tyler the Creator album, ’Chromakopia’, and her single trending on TikTok, with over 1.3 million videos, including stars, Sofia Richie and Kylie Jenner. Lola Young is currently having a massive moment within the music scene and is definitely one to look out for throughout the next year.

Rachel Chinouriri

Rachel Chinouriri, the English singer-songwriter, had her debut studio album, ’What a Devastating Turn of Events’ released in May 2024. The album which reflects, ’home, upbringing, and life’ as a working-class, Black British girl, received ’universal acclaim’ from a weighted average score of 85 out of 100. The singer explained in an interview with the BBC, that she wanted to recreate the visual and sonic aesthetics of the 90s/2000s ’Britpop movement’, while reclaiming her position within the Indie scene, where Black female-artists, are still underrepresented. Rachel Chinouriri will be setting off on a UK tour later this year and will one to keep an eye on in the coming months.

Fat Dog

First formed during lockdown in South-East London, ’Fat Dog’ consists of members, ’Joe Love, Chris Hughes, Morgan Wallace, Jacqui Wheeler and Johnny ‘Doghead’ Hutch.’ Prior to releasing any singles, the band was described as boisterous within their live performances, and ’2023’s wildest live band’ by NME magazine. Their post-punk style debut album ’Woof’ has since been released in September, with it receiving high ratings by respective critics, and in the words of frontman, ’Joe Love’, ’screaming-into-a-pillow music’. For 2025, the band is planning to tour across 12 countries and will most likely be in the process of creating new, eccentric music.

As we look ahead to the rest of 2025, be prepared to witness a new wave of fresh talent, that will consistently push the boundaries of music, whilst redefining what it means to be an artist in today’s ever-evolving landscape.
